Add the widget to your Shopify theme

Put your contest right where shoppers are already looking: the product page. The Winzos Contest app block takes about a minute to add, and you don't need to touch any code.

How the block works

The Winzos Contest block is smart: it looks at the product on the page and shows that product's live contest. On your storefront, shoppers see a launch button ("Enter to win" unless you change it). Tapping it opens the contest over the page, so they never leave the product.

  • Add the block once to your product template and it works on every product that has a live contest.
  • Products without a live contest show nothing, so there's no clutter.
  • You control the look (button, colors, fonts and more) in the Widget Builder. Changes show up on your store as soon as you save.

The quick way: one click from Winzos

  1. Open setup. Click Open setup on the welcome dialog or the Finish setup banner on your dashboard. This opens the Theme widget setup card.
  2. Click Add to product page. Your Shopify theme editor opens on the product template with the Winzos Contest block already added.
  3. Position it. Drag the block to where you want it. Just under the price or the Add to cart button works well.
  4. Save. Click Save in the theme editor. Done!

The manual way: in the theme editor

Prefer to do it yourself, or adding it to another template? Here's how:

  1. Open your theme editor. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize on your theme.
  2. Switch to a product page. Use the page picker at the top of the editor to choose Products → Default product (or whichever product template you use).
  3. Add the block. In the product information section, click Add block, open the Apps tab and choose Winzos Contest.
  4. Position it and save. Drag it into place and click Save.

The block's Product setting

Click the block in the theme editor to see its one setting, Product:

  • Leave it empty (recommended). The block uses the product on the page. This is what you want on product templates.
  • Pick a product to show that product's contest instead. This is handy for featuring a contest on your home page, a landing page or a collection page.

Troubleshooting

I see "Winzos: this product has no live contest."

That placeholder only appears inside the theme editor, so you know the block is there. It means the product you're previewing doesn't have a live contest. Either switch the preview to a product that does, or create a contest for this one. Scheduled contests appear once they go live.

The widget isn't showing on my store

  • Make sure you clicked Save in the theme editor, and that you edited your live theme (not a draft copy).
  • Check the product has a contest that's currently Live on your dashboard.
  • If the block's Product setting is filled in, it shows that product's contest, not the page's.

There's no Apps tab when adding a block

App blocks need an Online Store 2.0 theme (like Dawn or most themes from the Shopify Theme Store). Older "vintage" themes don't support them. If you're on one of these, email help@winzos.io and we'll help.
